Dinner Time Is So Entertaining!

I am loving our dinner time over the past few days. . . it is informative and definitely entertaining.  If Paul and I get through it without bursting out in laughter it's a miracle.

Zachary has really opened up about his Kindergarten experience so far.  And, he takes it so seriously so Paul and I have to too!

He is really loving every minute and he absolutely adores his teacher, Mrs. Bist.  She is wonderful!

Highlights from this week's dinner table conversations:

"Momma, a real kid got a yellow note today."  That is NOT good.  But!  Guess What!  Silly Sally actually got a RED note.  That is REALLY not good!  She ignored Mrs. Bist!  Can you believe it?  But, momma, don't worry, she's not real."

"I always go to the bathroom before we go to the library, even if I don't have to.  Mrs. Bist always asks all the kids if they need to go and some of them say no but when they get to the library they suddenly have to go!  I don't understand why they do that!  The library teacher is not happy.  I mean, she's happy with me, but not them!"

"Momma, I like staying longer days because there is funner things to do."

"Guess what!  I didn't have to do rest time today!  I got to play on the computer and do math games!"

"I like watching Mrs. Prescott on tv when she does birthdays.  You know, she's our principal and she's very important."

"Mrs. Bist does funny things with her voice - it's so silly!  When she passes out our papers she always says, 'if you don't put your name at the top you'll never see them again.'  She says it in a really deep silly voice."

"Mrs. Bist always carries around this big red book full of songs every morning."

He has recited all the rules of the classroom and the library.

He reports to us daily how many children went to time out.  The first day of school apparently 8 kids went to time out.  It has since dwindled down to 2, 1, and even one day he was so excited to report that NO children went to time out!

He got to choose something out of the beloved Treasure Chest one day this week.  He chose a lollipop. He was so excited!!

Why has it been a week and a half and every single morning after I drop him off and watch him walking to his classroom door I feel that lump come back in my throat?  I'm fine five minutes later but just seeing him walking to his class with his big backpack strapped on gets me every time!

Here are a few cute instagrams to leave you with:

A Fun Weekend With the Boys. . .

My boys always keep me hoppin' for sure.  It is Monday morning, they are at school, and I need to rest up from the weekend!  I plan on doing that right after I share a few cute snapshots.

Tom Brown has an awesome RC track and Zachary wanted to take his monster truck there this weekend.  Sounded like a good plan, especially with the weather being as wonderful as it was.  Did anyone else notice the extreme drop in humidity from what we are used to in August?  We loaded the kiddos up and off to the track we went.  Zach's best buds, Drew and Brady, came out to join us too.  The boys had a blast!

Zachary has been getting into the RC hobby more and more.  He is following in his Daddy's footsteps for sure.  They have a good time together and Chase Parker loves running around and playing in the dirt.  They all three usually come home filthy from head to toe.  I guess that is a good sign that fun was definitely had!

And here is one more  from later on in the evening at home. . .

Hilarious Zach Quotes!

You had to know they were coming!  The one thing I really was looking forward to about this whole "first day of school" thing was hearing what Zach had to say about it all.  I got some pretty juicy quotes for sure!

First Day Quotes:
(these were at the dinner table)

When I asked him what the number one thing he would remember about his first day of Kindergarten was he replied:

"The toilet was LOUD LOUD LOUD mama!"

_________

I asked him if there was anyone in his class, besides Cheyanne, that he already knew.  He smiled and said,

"Melody from my Sunday School is in my class."

I told him I didn't know who she was and asked what she looked like.  He responded,

"She looks just like she does in Sunday School!"

___________

Paul asked him to tell us some of the names of the kids in his class.  His response,

"I don't know everyone's names but Mrs. Bist said the name "Joshua" alot!"

___________

I asked if anyone got in trouble on their first day.  He replied,

"I think eight kids went to the time out chair, but not me!"

Then I asked if Cheyanne had to go to timeout and he excitedly replied,

"NO!  None of the Trinity kids had to go to timeout!"

___________

"They gave me yucky salad and I didn't even ask for it!"

___________

After dinner when we were on our way for ice cream he asked us, "is every day of Kindergarten going to be like today?"  I explained that it would be very similar and, yes, it would be fun, but that he would learn new things everyday.

We had fun going to Dairy Queen and then parking at Lake Ella.  We had to stay in the car since it was nasty weather but we enjoyed people watching!

I am SO glad our little boy had a terrific day at Kindergarten.  I have already emailed Mrs. Bist and thanked her for being a wonderful teacher.  We are SO blessed!!  She was so sweet and even sent me a picture of Zach on his first day!  How cool is she!!

Ryan, Joshua, and Zachary - 2012

And, what warmed my heart was right after we read our bible story and said our prayers, we were tucking him in bed and he said, "I can't wait for day two."

And, Chase Parker had himself a wonderful day too!  When I went to pick him up he was sitting at the table coloring.  He smiled at me and then got up, tucked his chair in, and then ran to me.  He was a happy little thing strutting around like he was the big man on campus.  He crashed hard though when he got home.  All that fun is tiring!!

And, now, a few cute quotes from today. . .

Second Day Quotes:

"Joshua is definitely my new friend.  In fact, after today
I may make him my cousin."

"The kids were much better today.  Only one kid was sent to time out.  Not me though!"

"I'm definitely good at saying my teacher's name now.
MRS. BIST!"

"Mama, today as soon as I flushed the toilet, I ran out of the door as fast as I could!  It's still loud!!"

Chase Parker has MISSED his brother today.  He has asked about him all day.  (Chase only goes to school M/W/F mornings.)  So, when we got home today this was what I saw when I walked in the living room!

School Days Are Really Here????

As I sit down to write this blog entry the house is quiet.  Something I have selfishly been longing for but now that it's here I'm kinda sad.  My poor husband has had his hands full this past weekend.  I've been an emotional roller coaster for sure.  I think most mom's get like this. . . hopefully I'm not the only one.

In a sense I have been dreaming of the day when both of my boys are "school age" and I will have more time to get things done that I have needed to for so long.  But, now that those days are here, I'm a WRECK!  It really hit me driving home from Orientation last Thursday.  There is no going back now.  School days have arrived!

I did, of course, have to take pictures.  Zachary is starting Kindergarten and Chase Parker is starting PreK-2 this year.  I had to document!  I have to say I don't look forward to photographing my own children.  Most of you that have kids know that this is a task that will test your patience level to the fullest.  When your kid sees you behind a camera it's like they immediately think to themselves. . . "how can I quickly get far far away"  Or, they run to you and won't let go.  These two tactics are classic.  And, of course, smiles are never acceptable in their book.  It's much easier to photograph children that are not your own!

Zachary is old enough that bribes work.  And, yes, I sure do use them to my advantage!  Whatever it takes to get a great picture.  Chase Parker on the other hand, cares nothing about bribery.  I realized that if I was able to get even one good shot that would be a miracle.  He is constantly moving and constantly looking every direction opposite me.  But, I tried and am happy with the two he decided to give me!

Chase Parker, somehow I know that even though you are the youngest in your class at only 2 years and 3 weeks old, you will not let that intimidate you.  You are your own little confident person for sure!  I'm so proud of you and I know you will be the best that you can be.  Mrs. Maggie will definitely have her hands full but I know you will bring her much joy my sweet boy.  (And, thank you for at least one decent picture!)

And, I had to include this next picture of you.  This sums you up perfectly.  You are loud, you are boisterous, you are strong willed and determined to be YOU!  But, on the flip side you are so so sweet, loving, and give the best hugs and kisses ever!  Have a wonderful school year. . . Mom and Dad are SO proud of you!

And now my firstborn. . . Zachary Thomas. . .

I can't believe that sign you are holding says Kindergarten.  I just can't believe it!!  I'm so glad you felt comfortable today and didn't show any signs of being nervous.  I want you to enjoy this experience!  I'm relieved you seem to already love your school and your teacher and are looking forward to making great friends.  Even though you are quiet spoken you are full of confidence and really step up to the plate and do a great job.  I love that you are so meticulous and thoughtful.  You are going to have a great year!

And, even though this road that you have started on today will seem so long to you, it will fly by for me and Dad for sure.  It will seem like you will never get out of school, that you will never be out on your own.  That's why it's hard for me today.  I know that these days will fly by for me.  Before I blink you will be in middle school, high school and looking at colleges.  Yikes!

Your Dad and I are so very proud of you Zachary.  We will be with you every step of the way.  We love you and want you to have a fabulous year!

So very proud of both of our boys!!!

Love,
~Mom

A Birthday Wrap Up. . .

Sorry for the delay in posting Chase's birthday party pics. . . I am waaaay behind on family blogging!

Chase did enjoy his party very much.  He was a wild man running around like a chicken with his head cutoff.  When it came time to open gifts he was in the middle of running circles around the kitchen and living room and we could not get him to stop.  He must have run 10 laps!  Eventually he took time to focus and open a few gifts.

When it was cake time he, suddenly, was VERY focused.  After blowing out his No. 2 candle he sat quietly in the dining room stuffing down his cake and homemade ice cream.  He barely made a peep!

Yes, that's right. . . thanks to Grandma Birdwell we enjoyed homemade ice cream and it was yummy delish!

Thanks to all for coming over to help us celebrate.  He is a VERY loved 2 YEAR OLD!!!  Mommy, Daddy, Big Brother Zachary, Bella Kate, and Blue love you Chase Parker!

And now, for the picture that made me audibly gasp when I saw it for the first time.  I LOVE THIS PICTURE!!  Maybe it's because I'm his mom, or maybe you see it too.  The expression on his little, tiny face with the icing and all the mess surrounding him is priceless!  I LOVE IT!!  (thank you bestie for snapping this shot for me!)

This RC thing. . .

As most of you know my hubby is heavily involved in RC planes and helicopters.  While I couldn't ever learn how to do it myself, I do enjoy watching him!  Here are some recent pictures of him flying his Rascal (with a little help from Zach of course!).  You may click on each picture to see it larger.
